IDEAS & the Need for Conversation & Dialogue Index

[Strangely, this is largely related to Orchid's "Systemic Focus" -- and its really about "IDEAS" as generally a LARGE PART of the FOUNDATION for our various systems -- and there is really a need for a lot of DIALOGUE to hash out the COMPLEXITIES of those IDEAS.

When systems aren't working -- REALLY AREN'T  WORKING -- there are sometimes FOUNDATIONAL ISSUES that seem TOO IMPRACTICAL to deal with at the moment.

BUT failing to address those issues are the source of many large problems that don't go away.  At some point we -- as every Age --- are moving to NEW UNDERSTANDINGS OF HOW THE WORLD WORKS.   

WHAT Are Our Big IDEAS:
  • "Intent" seems to have taken us about as far as we can go in the Criminal Law -- the US and much of the world are moving to a PUBLIC HEALTH APPROACH to better address the COMPLEX "BIOLOGIES/Environments" of many in the Criminal Justice System and to provide for a greater level of safety.
 
  • SCIENCE is a great thing.  The Mental Health Profession is having a HARD TIME addressing a SCIENTIFICALLY INVALID DSM 5 -- It is excruciatingly relevant.  We need major FUNDING & COLLABORATIONS to support TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE/JUSTICE.

  • We love Science -- and there are a lot of different areas of KNOWLEDGE that are IMPORTANT often because SCIENCE has a lot of GAPS [as do the other areas of KNOWLEDGE] -- and the STRUGGLE is to INTEGRATE these areas of KNOWLEDGE into something COHERENT. ​​ -- The more we learn, the more we understand we don't know -- and the more we understand the need to INTEGRATE these areas of "KNOWLEDGE" -- not only SCIENCE, RELIGION and ART but ECONOMICS, HISTORY and all the rest.

In all secrets there is a kind of guilt, however beautiful or joyful they may be, or for what good end they may be set to serve. Secrecy means evasion, and evasion means a problem to the moral mind.
Philosopher Mortimer Adler is one of our great heroes.  

Philosophy is definitely a part of Orchid -- just as much as Federal Law, Regulations & Guidance.
